Details Site of unlocated alleged battle. The site of the Battle of Barry, fought in 1010 AD, between the Scots under Malcolm II, and the Danes under Camus, is traditionally ascribed to the eastern part of the parish. According to the tradition, the Danes were defeated, with heavy loss of life on both sides. This would appear to be a battle invented in the usual way to account for the finding of burials (of which many have been found in the vicinity, such as NO53SE0001 and NO53SE0004) since no acceptable historian appears to note it.
