Site of the foundry of Douglas Fraser and Sons Ltd, established in 1832. Two works buildings are shown at the east end of the site on the west of the railway line which divides this site from the main area of the foundry. The foundry buildings expanded westwards during the twentieth century to occupy most of the former housing and garden areas behind Stobcross, Rossie Street, Fergus Street and Cairnie Street. A photographic record was undertaken by the RCAHMS in 1994-5 ahead of demolition. Part of the site was subject to a desk-based assessment by SUAT in 2006 (NO64SW0192) prior to redevelopment.
