Site of previous curling ponds, depicted on the 2nd edition OS map of 1888 to the west of the town of Braemar. By the 5th edition OS map (mid-20th Century) the ponds had been been built over to form the current memorial park, the Princess Royal and Duke of Fife Memorial Park, the grounds for The Braemar Gathering, with associated stand and terrace structures and pavilions. A small square curling pond is shown a short distance to the east on the 5th edition OS map. Another set of curling ponds once stood on the eastern edge of the town (NO19SE0044).
