Farmstead, still in use, depicted on the 1st edition OS map as Hillfolds, though the name had changed by the time of the 2nd edition OS map to Barluack. The 1st edition map shows a mill pond and sluice to the north with a lade running down to a complex of steading buildings. A farmhouse lies to the southeast, a garden enclosure with a trough further to the southeast and a well to the southwest. By the time of the 2nd edition map the steading had been roofed over, a pump added adjacent to the farmhouse, with the garden enclosure and trough no longer shown. Remains of the mill pond still remained in 2005. On the current edition OS map the farmstead is shown with additions and alterations, with the well and the mill pond no longer shown, the former lade north of the mill pond depicted as a field drain. The former lade area north of the farmstead buildings was recorded during a walkover survey by Highland Archaeology Services in November 2021 (NJ25SE0065), with several modern ditches reported as being visible which may pertain to the original lade, with no other related features visible.
