Details Anti-tank blocks in a double line the full length of the beach just above MHWS line constructed during World War II. Sandend appeared on the Scottish Command list of vulnerable beaches in 1940 and 1941. The beach was also defended by pillboxes at the east (NJ56NE0039 and NJ56NE0040) and west ends of the line of blocks. Some blocks have toppled and others have been removed. Site visit in 2022 as part of the SCAPE Coastal Zone Assessment Survey noted that the double line was only visible from the centre eastwards.
