Details Remains of an enclosed Late Bronze Age cremation cemetery, revealed in excavation in 1935, following on from investigations of the stone circle (NJ72NW0001) in 1934. At a period subsequent to the erection of the stone circle, an urnfield was laid out on the south side of the circle, in contact with it. It was enclosed by a dyke in a shallow ditch, with two entrances, in the west and east. The primary burial, an adult male cremation, with a perforated sandstone pendant, was found in a burnt area at the centre. Twenty burials were found, 12 of these were with urns, all but one being placed in pits and inverted over the deposit. The remains of 31 individuals were identified. The only artefact associated with an urn was a bone toggle. Part of a clay mould for a late Bronze Age sword was found against the cemetery dyke.
