Remains of a quarry pit, recorded during a walkover survey by Mercer and Ralston in 1989 prior to a proposed extension of Bellmuir Quarry (NJ83NE0181). This prominent pit has been excavated into the top of the break-of-slope north of enclosure NJ83NE0058. There is a slight possibility that the resultant scoop may have been intended as a stance for a timber house, but the sharpness and irregularity of the scoop may discount this. A desk based assessment carried out by Rathmell Archaeology in 2016 ahead of proposed development of Bellmuir Quarry and subsequent field observation noted the site (S2) as present but did not record any further details, with the site located outwith the proposed development area.
