Details Site of four stone clearance cairns recorded during a walkover survey by Mercer and Ralston in 1989 prior to a proposed extension of Bellmuir Quarry (NJ83NE0181). A small number of clearance heaps were scattered over the slope. One of the cairns was investigated during evaluation by CFA in 1997. This measured 3 m in diameter and was up to 0.7 m high, and a single piece of flint, probably a worked fragment of a flint core, was recovered from the cairn. A desk based assessment carried out by Rathmell Archaeology in 2016 ahead of proposed development of Bellmuir Quarry and subsequent field observation noted the site (S10) was no longer present having been removed by quarry operations outwith the proposed development area.
