Details Site of the iron foundry of James Abernethy and Co depicted on the OS 2nd edition maps. In the 19th and early 20th century this company was north east Scotland's most notable firm of structural engineers, specialising in cast iron work and suspension bridges The firm was also the world's largest maker of granite working machinery including cranes and lathes.
