Trial trenching by Headland Archaeology in 2020 (NO43SE0117) ahead of onshore transmission works recorded a small number of features. A pit in Trench 29, at the eastern end of this section, contained occasional small fragments of post medieval pottery, possibly 18th century in date. At the west end of this section, in Trench 34, was a sub-semicircular feature with almost vertical sides and a flat base, probably a water pond, and probably relating to 19th/20th century agriculture. Trench 28 contained the remains of inspection chambers relating to an active drain running across the trench.
