A desk based assessment and walkover survey were carried out in advance of onshore electricity transmission works. This identified a number of archaeological sites and features along the corridor and a programme of archaeological mitigation works including trial trenching and watching briefs was carried out in 2020 and 2021, ahead of and during groundworks for the cable route, compound and associated works. This recorded archaeological features at several locations: see NO43NW0051, NO53SW0028, NO53SW0029, NO43SE0041, NO53SW0153, NO53SW0154, NO53SW0155, NO53SW0156, NO53SW0157, NO43NW0113, NO53SW0158, NO53SW0159. Agricultural furrows and stone culverts of more recent date not deemed to be of archaeological significance were also recorded in some trial trenches across the route. Monitoring of the ground investigation works along the route had recorded no significant archaeological features in any of the trial pits.
