South gate lodge of Middleton House (NO54NE0107), still in use. It was built in the mid 19th century, and is first depicted on the 1st edition OS map as two rectangular buildings with small rear projections, located either side of the southeast entrance to Middleton House. A rectangular enclosure is shown to the rear of the northern building. On the OS 2nd edition map the lodge is shown as a single rectangular building with two small projections and a small enclosure to the rear, a pump to the east and it is located to the northwest of the earlier lodges, which are no longer shown. On the current edition OS map the pump is no longer shown. The lodge is a single-storey, Tudor-gothic, harled building, with a verandah porch and a slate roof. It is located within the designed landscape of Middleton House (NO54NE0115).
