Ornamental gates and associated structures, still in use, built in the 17th century with later additions. They are to the north of Careston Castle (NO55NW0002), within the associated designed landscape (NO55NW0115). There are square ashlar gatepiers with moulded caps and a decorated arch constructed of wrought iron. The walls flanking the gatepiers have shot-holes at the angles. At the eastern and western extremities of the range are a pair of pavilions with piended roofs, with stables at the west and coach houses at the east. To the south is an L-plan range, which is probably offices. On the 1st edition OS map, this building extends further to the west. There are two other buildings to the south of the L-plan range, and a long rectangular range to the east of the gate range. By the 2nd edition OS map, the L-plan building has its present dimensions, and the two buildings to the south have been removed. The long range to the east of the gates is now disused.
