Details	Designed landscape around the late-16th century Careston Castle, and associated buildings. The mansion itself (NO55NW0002) sits a little to the North of the designed landscape, with various associated buildings and features around it. Directly to the North of the mansion are ornamental gates and associated structures (NO55NW0101). To the North of these gates are two cottages (NO56SW0047) (NO56SW0049) and a curling pond (NO56SW0048). Beyond this, to the North-East, is the site of the North Lodge (NO56SW0054). To the East is the remains of another curling pond (NO56SW0050), which, unusually, has a dovecot (NO56SW0051) on an island in the middle of it. Beyond this is a farmstead (NO55NW0096), and beyond this again are a group of cottages (NO56SW0052). To the South is the site of the South Lodge (NO55NW0097), and the present South Gates (NO55NW0102). To the South-West of the mansion are the remains of a walled garden (NO55NW0103), and to the West is the site of a former steading (NO55NW0100).
