Cropmarks of an unenclosed settlement recorded by CUCAP (date not held at NMRS) the RCAHMS since 1976 and AAS in 2003. The cropmarks lie at the top of the slope that runs up from the Montrose basin towards the level ground on which the Roman temporary camp (NO65NE0021) is situated. Two ring-ditches, both measuring roughly 15m in diameter, lie within the southwest and northwest quadrants of the camp respectively. At least one other of similar size lies outside the camp to the south, together with at least three small circular markings, one of which is penannular, and another may be a ditched barrow measuring about 10m in diameter. Also visible is a souterrain, a sub-oval enclosure with internal features and several pits.
