Details Remains of a designed landscape for the now demolished mansion house (NO65NE0014). Formerly completely bordered with shelter belts, those on the south-east have been removed and the area returned to agriculture. The (circa 1846) 1st edition OS map shows several features, various planted roundels, avenues, a complex series of tracks meandering through the grounds to the immediate north of the Mansion and the den to the west, a series of estate offices and a gasometer to the west of the den and two ponds with dams within it. To the south-west of the Mansion is a dovecote. By the (circa 1888) 2nd edition OS map, the offices have been extended, further development of the landscape is shown with more plantations and there are two possible estate cottages to the south-west of the Mansion. The 2006 map shows that the gasometer, possible cottages and the estate offices have been removed, as has the south-eastern portion of the surrounding shelter belts. The ornamental planted roundels have also been removed. The curve of the removed shelter belt at the south-east is visible in the ripening crop shown on the vertical aerial photograph overlay on the GIS at the Angus HER.
