Farmstead, to the east and northeast of the farmhouse (NO75SW0049). Shown on the OS 1st edition map as a quadrangular steading with an open court, an entrance through the south range and a circular horse-mill attached to the external northeast elevation. On the OS 2nd edition map the steading court is shown as being roofed over, with a well and a pump shown adjacent to the east range. A cottage is shown to the far north of the steading. On the current OS edition map, the east and north ranges are no longer shown, only sections of the former walls remain, with modern agricultural building alterations and additions to the north.
The 2-storey classic steading, built in the late 18th century, is rubble stone constructed, with a symmetrical south front, an arched and pedimented centre bay and wings, and a slated roof. It is now shown as two residential properties, Playfair Cottage and Soane Cottage, with the agricultural steading now being to the north in the later farm buildings, also with commercial premises. The cottage to the north is shown as Drumledownie Cottage.
