Details Designed landscape, ice-house (NO76SW0161), walled garden (NO76SW0163) and site of a now demolished country house, Charleton House, built in the early 19th century and remodelled in 1892 to the designs of Sir Robert Rowand Anderson, following a fire. It was sold to the managers of Montrose Infirmary in 1946 and converted into a maternity unit which opened in July 1948. A ward block was added on the east side of the drive. The maternity home closed in circa 1980 and the house and lodge were demolished in 2005.
