Episcopal church opened in 1873, designed by Alexander Ross, and which replaced an earlier church on the same site. Named as St Laurence's Episcopal Chapel on the 1st and 2nd edition OS maps. The earlier church, depicted on the OS 1st edition map. was designed by John Gibson of Montrose, 1791-3 with an apsidal southeast end. The present church is rectangular in plan, in Early English style. Constructed of red sandstone, the main body of the walls of tooled and coursed blocks, with ashlar surrounds and quoins, and a steeply pitched slate roof. The northwest, gable, elevation is almost symmetrical with small corner buttresses and two pointed arched windows with a quatrefoil window set above. The southwest elevation has a small gabled porch with celtic cross finial and narrow lancet windows to the nave. In the rear, southeast, elevation is a single traceried rose window, Below the gable is a small burial ground of the Johnston family. The interior is a good example of Alexander Ross's Episcopal style. The oak reredos by Jones and Wilson incorporates a painting of the Presentation of the Virgin. The stained glass is mostly by John Hardman and Co, the three chancel windows dating from 1872. In the western corner of the churchyard fronting the street is a well (NO77SW0127).
