At least one perforated stone, found to the southwest of Murlingden House (NO56SE0123), within the designed landscape (NO56SE0124). A quandrangular stone, 4 3/8 inches x 4 inches x 1 3/16 inches thick, with an almost central, 'picked', hour-glass perforation, found 'at Murlingden', was donated to NMAS by Captain G E Anderson, Murlingden. When the OS revisited in 1971, Captain Anderson was deceased and there was no further information. A smaller stone with a similar perforation also 'from Murlingden', is in Brechin Museum. Date of accession not known.
