Details Designed landscape around Dunninald Castle (NO75SW0003) and associated buildings. The designed landscape was possibly established by Patrick Leighton, who bought the lands in 1617, but it was more likely after 1663, when Thomas and Agnes Allardyce were lairds. There were designs for a new landscape design commissioned in 1794, but this work was not carried out. A gale in 1894 felled many of the trees in the landscape, which were re-planted in 1895. A terrace was added to the South side of the house in 1902. For the years during and after World War II the upkeep of the landscape was reduced to save costs. The landscape features include a North and South lodge, gatepiers, kennels, a walled garden (NO75SW0043), stables (NO75SW0048), a farmhouse (NO75SW0049), a farmstead (NO75SW0050) and a water tower.
